This is a really interesting painting, but I’m afraid it’s suffering from poor documentation - the overall value structure is too dark, which lead me to believe a better image would make a big difference. The elements of the painting are really nice, and I particularly like the way you’ve handled the night sky and moon. I think another area for improvement would be perspective - the cracks in the ground seem to have too steep and angle upwards on out right, and the dog’s legs don’t quite feel like they lay on the ground. I love her - her pose is subtle and delicate, her dress has great weight and feel, and her hair is a great combination of detail and generalization. I think I would let the table cloth be painted a bit broader, with less detail, as well as the bodies of the animals. That would draw even more attention to her. Overall, it’s a great concept and you’ve made an interesting composition - I think just being more selective as to what you render completely would really make it sing!
